Electronics is dangerous

This cap nearly made me foul myself this morning. It exploded like a gunshot, spraying foul gases and cardboard cotton stuff into the air. Overvoltage, not pretty. The one on the left is the damaged one. The one on the right is his still functional brother. I managed to break the PWM in my micro which was controlling a flyback converter. No microcontroller, no control and the voltages quickly head to the moon before you can really stop to think about what's going on. Then, boom, a bomb in your face. Years of electronics have definitely made me a little bit jumpy. Loud noises when I'm working at my bench will cause my heart to stutter. Apologies for the poor picture quality, but the iPhone camera is not one of its strong features. That's probably being too kind.
